Power-Gen Europe 2008 and some extra challenges.

Power-Gen Europe 2008 will take place in Milan, Italy next week. I will be attending the show to back up our cooperation partners from the CSC Consortium. CSC Consortium has people with individual Riqq certificates in areas of design (Virkkunen & Co), plant design (Intechno) and site management (Tapro Engineering Services). Other members in the consortium (WSP Industry and Intec) and  are hopefully about to get their certificates very soon.

You will be able to meet some of these experieced and modernised professional also in Milan. CSC Consortium’s stand is located in hall 3, booth C22.

There are some extra challenges in the this particular industry.

Typically, the process automation and civil engineering disciplines are being handled separately. And while the process automation counts over 80% from the value of the whole project, it gets almost all attention from the project management and owners.

The interesting thing here is that this under 20% part of the project is causing 80% of the delays, budget over-runs and quality problems.

Why? The whole project should be treated as one, at least from the information management and sharing perspective. Especially here, where any action in any part of the project always has a dependency somewhere else.

This is one of the problems we are trying to solve in the industrial construction. And I think we are getting there, step by step…

See you in Milan! Ciao!
